The future is circular! – Development of tomorrow’s solutions today

Plus Pack is a family owned food packaging company with 230 employees and production in Denmark and Belgium. 1.4 billion products are sold to 1,200 customers in 54 countries with an annual turnover of approx. DKK 600 million.

Sustainability has always been the main focus at Plus Pack. ”You must do something” was the founders’, N.J. Haustrup, motto since 1914. This motto included the company’s focus on creating a positive development for customers, employees, suppliers and the local community.  The fourth Haustrup-generation, Camilla Haustrup Hermansen and her brother, managing director Anders Top Haustrup have carried on the motto as a motivating force to create sustainable innovation and growth.

Plus Pack focuses on circular economy by keeping materials and products in the financial circuit as long as possible. The circular economy breaks with the idea of a linear economy starting with the extraction of resources and ending up as waste. Recycling and recycled products contributing to a circular economy and thus a more sustainable world are considered in the very first phases of the products.

Camilla Haustrup Hermansen is involved in the development of a common European plastic treaty together with representatives from other EU governments, the EU Commission, private companies and NGOs. She recived the Plastic Price 2019 from the plastic industry for taking responsibility for more sustainable plastic packaging for food. As chairman of the government’s climate partnership within waste, water and circular economy and as a member of the government’s Green Business Forum, she heads different recommendations for the government’s future climate effort.
