Thermal Insulation

product certification of Thermal insulation materials

Bureau Veritas Denmark A/S

Products for thermal insulation of buildings and for technical insulation in Europe have for many years been controlled by various national control systems, such as Bureau Veritas Denmark A/S / VIK Thermal insulation control in the Danish market. With the introduction of the Construction Products Regulation (EU 305/2011), requirements for insulation comply with harmonized product standards and fire classes. The purpose is to ensure that CE marked construction products are freely marketed and used in all EU countries, as the CE mark covers all legal requirements in all countries within the EU and excludes national control schemes.

Compliance with the product standards must be verified by an accredited and notified certification body. In Denmark, DANAK is responsible for this accreditation and notification. Bureau Veritas Denmark A/S is accredited and notified by DANAK and can therefore perform certification tasks for most insulation materials for which there is a harmonized EN standard.

The Keymark scheme is a voluntary superstructure on the CE marking based on the same product standards, but the quality of the products and the documentation is ensured through:

  • Ongoing audit tests (3rd party test)
  • Use of accredited and notified laboratories measuring at the common European target level
