IT’S ABOUT SAFETY, HEALTH, AND WELL-BEING IN THE WORKPLACE

Bureau Veritas Denmark A/S

Every day, workplace accidents and wear-and-tear occur that could have been avoided. At the same time, the requirements for documenting employee well-being—both physical and mental—have increased significantly. An ISO 45001 certification is not about “buying well-being” on the surface, but about building a solid foundation for a safe, healthy, and productive work environment you can be proud of.

Occupational Health and Safety Management Results In:

  • Fewer Accidents and Sick Days: When you work systematically with risk assessment and prevention, you will experience fewer workplace accidents and sick days among employees, leading to more stable operations.
  • Greater Employee Well-Being: When the physical and psychological work environment is no longer left to chance but integrated into your management system, you will see a significant improvement in workplace well-being.
  • Higher Customer Confidence: When you can document that you work in a structured way with safety and health and comply with an international standard, you present yourselves as a stable and professional partner that takes responsibility—and that builds trust.

ISO 45001 is the international standard for occupational health and safety management.
It helps you work systematically and have clear processes for how you handle risks, accidents, and well-being in the workplace. The certification ensures that you not only meet current requirements but continuously evolve in line with new risks, legal requirements, and expectations.

From certification to a documented sustainability report

Companies that already certified according to the ISO 45001 standard have a strong foundation for documenting and reporting their sustainability data.

Through verification of your sustainability report (CSRD), Bureau Veritas Denmark can independently verify your overall sustainability efforts as a natural extension of your ISO 45001 certification.

ISO 45001 Has Replaced OHSAS 18001

Since 2018, ISO 45001:2018 has been the applicable international standard for occupational health and safety—and it has replaced OHSAS 18001.

Why is this important to know?

  • ISO 45001 follows a common structure (High Level Structure), making it easier to integrate occupational health and safety with, for example, quality (ISO 9001) and environment (ISO 14001).
  • The certification also covers the work of your subcontractors—allowing you to create a stronger and more effective effort across the entire value chain.
  • The standard can be applied in all industries and organizations, large and small.

In short: ISO 45001 makes it easier to unify your management system and demonstrates that you take responsibility for both employees and business partners.

Can ISO 45001 Be Combined with Other Standards?

Yes – and that’s actually one of the major advantages of ISO 45001. The standard is built on the common High Level Structure (HLS), which is used in all modern ISO standards, including ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environment). This means you can consolidate requirements into one integrated management system and avoid duplication of work.

If you are already certified to ISO 9001 or ISO 14001, ISO 45001 can be added on top of your existing system. This way, you get a single overview of processes, risks, and objectives—whether it’s about quality, environment, or occupational health and safety.

The result is more efficient management, fewer silos, and better use of resources. At the same time, it becomes easier to document your efforts to customers, authorities, and employees because everything is connected in one system.

ISO 45001 makes it simple to integrate occupational health and safety into your overall business strategy.
