ISO 45001 Has Replaced OHSAS 18001
Since 2018, ISO 45001:2018 has been the applicable international standard for occupational health and safety—and it has replaced OHSAS 18001.

- ISO 45001 follows a common structure (High Level Structure), making it easier to integrate occupational health and safety with, for example, quality (ISO 9001) and environment (ISO 14001).
- The certification also covers the work of your subcontractors—allowing you to create a stronger and more effective effort across the entire value chain.

Can ISO 45001 Be Combined with Other Standards?
Yes – and that’s actually one of the major advantages of ISO 45001. The standard is built on the common High Level Structure (HLS), which is used in all modern ISO standards, including ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environment). This means you can consolidate requirements into one integrated management system and avoid duplication of work.
If you are already certified to ISO 9001 or ISO 14001, ISO 45001 can be added on top of your existing system. This way, you get a single overview of processes, risks, and objectives—whether it’s about quality, environment, or occupational health and safety.
