Introduction
This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical tools to conduct internal audits in a Combined Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) Management System. Based on the auditing principles of ISO 19011, the course emphasizes an integrated approach, risk-based thinking, and process-oriented auditing techniques.
Content
Day 1 – Introduction & Planning
- Introduction to integrated management systems (IMS) – purpose and benefits
- Overview of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements
- Introduction to ISO 19011 – auditing principles and methodology
- Audit planning: scope, objectives, checklists, and documentation
Day 2 – Conducting the Audit
- Audit methods: interviews, sampling, observations, and evidence gathering
- Auditor roles and responsibilities: auditor, lead auditor, auditee
- Practical workshops: audit case studies and role-play
- Risk-based thinking in auditing (ISO 19011 focus)
Day 3 – Reporting & Follow-up
- Identifying and formulating non-conformities
- Writing clear and actionable audit reports
- Following up on corrective actions and closing audits
- Final assessment: written and/or practical audit test
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the structure and purpose of a combined QHSE management system
- Interpret key requirements from ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
- Plan and prepare internal audits based on ISO 19011 guidelines
- Conduct audits using appropriate techniques such as interviews, observations, and document review
- Identify and report non-conformities in a constructive manner
- Follow up on corrective actions and contribute to continual improvement
Target Audience
This course is designed for employees responsible for conducting internal audits or supporting integrated management systems, including QHSE coordinators, managers, and professionals across all industries. Basic knowledge of management systems is an advantage but not mandatory.
