For £ 450 million, Bureau Veritas has purchased the global inspection and testing company Inspectorate from investment firm 3i. Headquartered in Witham, United Kingdom, Inspectorate has 7,000 employees in 60 countries.
Inspectorate's activities are organized into three main segments: Oil and petrochemicals, metals and minerals, and agricultural products. The company is among the world leaders in the three areas and in 2009 had a turnover of £246 million.
Following the acquisition of Inspectorate, Bureau Veritas now has more than 47,000 employees in 1,000 offices and 330 laboratories in more than 140 countries and earning more than €3 billion
The acquisition of Inspectorate is a major step forward for Bureau Veritas towards the goal of being a global market leader in inspection and testing of raw materials.
