Stavros Gkolemis, Junior Controller at Bureau Veritas

Junior Controller at Bureau Veritas

”My name is Stavros Gkolemis, and I work as Junior Controller at Bureau Veritas Denmark. I am from Greece and studied economy at Patros University. During my study I worked at KYKLOS A. E. for a short period of time – a financial company at the stock market.

In 2018 I moved to Denmark where I started my master’s degree in finance and economy. During my study I worked at Chicago Burger in Odense where I soon started helping the owner with basic accounting tasks.

My first meeting with Bureau Veritas was through Lead the Talent. Together with five other students I was a part of the project “Product Environmental Footprint” in all the Scandinavian countries. The project was run by Charlotte Thy, Senior Product Developer & Lead Auditor at Bureau Veritas Denmark. In 2022 I was offered a position in the finance department where I now work as Junior Controller. I have different tasks like financial statements and financial reporting including revenue, tax and VAT.

My passion is working with numbers. Every day new challenges arise for which I must find a solution. Some days are more challenging than others, but this just motivates me more – I am not a quitter. Every day I learn something new, and I am incredibly lucky to have very nice colleagues who always smile with a great understanding and LOTS of patience.

In an international company like Bureau Veritas, I communicate with people all over the world, and this makes my work exceptionally interesting – I get to learn about other cultures. I grew up in another culture, but I immediately felt that no matter who you are, you are accepted and understood at Bureau Veritas.

The crucial factor for Bureau Veritas being a remarkable workplace making me enjoy going to work every day is our wonderful coffee machine where I can enjoy good quality coffee, which is hard to find in Denmark!”
