ISO 27001 has become a central part of Ping IT A/S

As one of the first in Denmark within their industry, Ping IT A/S, an international IT trade and service company, implemented a management system of information security according to the ISO 27001:2013 standard in November 2018. A decision made first and foremost for the sake of the company itself, says Jesper Villadsen, co-founder and CEO at Ping IT A/S:
”We did not implement ISO 27001 for our customers. We did it for ourselves. The certification has meant a lot to us as a company and to our employees who can now proudly tell what we can offer our customers and what separates us from our competitors.”
Jesper Villadsen also emphasises how ISO 27001 created a common understanding and a mutual goal for the company’s employees who all happily engaged in the certification process and helped create continuous improvements in the company’s internal work procedures and workflows.
”Even though it is a heavy proces, it is also educative, and I have to say that it is 100% worth the effort. To go through the whole certification process is an eye-opener. You get an overview, you get control of the company, you tie the loose ends and you relate to the different processes,” tells Jesper Villadsen and emphasises that Bureau Veritas Certification is an important part of this proces:
”Your audits help ensure that we constantly improve and therefore I clearly see Bureau Veritas Certification as a business partner and a co-player who helps make us stronger. We have had a very good dialogue through the whole certification process.”
The ISO 27001 certificate stands out
In addition to strengthening Ping IT A/S internally, Jesper Villadsen is also convinced that the ISO 27001 certificate has given the company a large competitive advantage as they now stand out in a positive way as the competition within the industry becomes critical.
”After receiving the certification, we have closed deals and written contracts with companies, which we with 100% certainty would not have done earlier. Some companies already have internal guidelines regarding business partners and some even have written guidelines that they only do business with ISO 27001 certificed companies,” says Jesper Villadsen.
He is also sure that the company will meet even more of these customer demands in the future. Thus, a company must be able to document its efforts – a development which Jesper Villadsen appreciates as he thinks certificates create credibility.
”We expect larger and larger demands from the outside world, and we think that if you wish to be considered – also in the future – you must be able to show that you can some thing else than being the one with the highest bid” says Jesper Villadsen who also has no doubts that the future holds more ISO certifications for Ping IT A/S:
”ISO 27001 gave us some benefits we had not seen coming so we got a bit hooked on ISO certifications, and I can very well imagine that we will set out for further certifications in the years to come.”
About ISO 27001
The international ISO 27001 standard specifies the requirements of an Information Security Management System (ISMS). The purpose of the system is to make the company able to assess the risks they face and to implement the necessary initiatives to protect confidentiality, integrity and provide continuously available information (fire, theft, water damage, etc.).
